"It's the small details that create the big picture."
As a Culinary & Nutrition Consultant, June Alpert uses her extensive knowledge and skills to help her clients solve a variety of complex foodservice-related problems. June works with restaurant owners, managers, chefs, cooks, suppliers, manufacturers and marketing professionals, to take an idea and turn it into a successful outcome, focusing on the small details that create the big picture. Her services have been utilized by independent and multi-unit restaurants, retail food markets, corporations, education and health care institutions, casinos. and lodging establishments.
As a Food and Beverage Consultant with the Hospitality and Leisure Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Ms. Alpert worked extensively with independent and chain restaurant clients to develop franchise and restaurant concepts, engineer profitable menus and create customized and standardized foodservice programs and operating systems. In addition, she also wrote business plans, conducted feasibility studies and designed quality control assessment programs to monitor and maintain optimal operational standards.
In 1992 she authored, Enlightened Eating for Better Health, a book which features practical guidelines and recipes for a lifelong, healthy eating plan. This book also serves as a tutorial for chefs who need to learn the basics of ‘cooking with a conscience.’ Ms. Alpert was a key participant in establishing quality services at the Hofstra Health Dome, affiliated with Hofstra University. As Director of Food and Nutrition Services, June created and introduced “Enlightened Eating,” a complete line of over 50 private-label foods. In addition, she created the Hofstra Health Dome ‘Seal of Approval,’ which was awarded to local restaurants for offering healthy meals that met the “Enlightened Eating” nutrition criteria.
Most recently, June created an award winning line of kosher, healthy, frozen meals under the Get Healthy America label, which are being distributed to retail food markets across the country. She was responsible for the original product formulations, sourcing, supervision of production, nutrition labeling, packaging and marketing of this successful product line.
The most unique aspect of Ms. Alpert’s background is the diversity of her involvement in the restaurant and foodservice industry. Her strong academic background, combined with her creative talents and ability to work with people in a variety of settings, creates a formula for success.
Ms. Alpert received her BS degree from Cornell University in Foods and Nutrition and her MS degree from Columbia University in Nutrition and Public Health. She is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist.
